When we began initial research for a project we created a short survey about general food consumption habits in Aalto University. Within few days we received 78 responses and found some interesting patterns that were quite surprising. Here are short insights from some of the questions.
The majority of students would like to eat healthier food.
Well, it seems like we all would love to have a healthier option every time we have food on campus - the majority have voted ‘for sure’ (10) in this question - and this is amazing! However, we should find out more about the perception of healthy food and whether most of the students actually know what’s healthy and what’s not.
Most of us would like to eat food that is more sustainable.
Wow, these results were even more encouraging! And look - no one clicked on 8 or 9, there was definitely some passion in clicking the strongest ‘for sure’ - this tells us people are concerned indeed.
Students are not that well aware about the environmental footprint of food production.
As we expected, most of the students are not that sure they know what it takes to procure food in terms of environmental input. There are several contributing factors to these and it can be a long discussion but our project is here to bridge this gap!
